About Us

Hi, TableTopTemple started in 2022 because I wanted to share my love of board games with you. While we will talk about well-established board games here I’m also hoping to check and review some more niche games so that we all try and discover something new. One day, at the end of all of this, I hope to own a board game café – here’s hoping!

Where It All Started

I suppose my love of Tabletop games started a long time ago. My Grandmother is Italian and unfortunately I never learnt the language so the best way to communicate was through games. We would play traditional Italian card games mostly Briscola because it was the easiest and later I was taught games like Scopone and Machiavelli.

To be honest, I enjoy games of all kinds, especially strategy ones, but there’s something slightly different when playing board games over just playing on your PC or Playstation. I think in the modern world we have all gotten a little bit detached and too dependent on the digital world, but board games bring us back down to reality. There’s something to be said about gathering round the table and playing all the games you love with your friends.

As far as favourite board games go, it probably looks something like this:

  • Ticket to Ride
  • Santorini
  • Patchwork
  • Night of the Ninja (a rare, but extraordinarily fun game – much respect to the Lotus Clan)
  • Disney’s Villainous
  • Catan

Of course I play and enjoy many more, but that’s just me at a glance.

In addition to my enjoyment of games I regret to write that I also thoroughly enjoy fantasy. I always loved Lord of the Rings growing up and the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind absorbed me for many years – there’s over a million words in Goodkind’s universe so it did take a long old time. Consequently, when I started this blog and read a bit more into Dungeons and Dragons I also fell in love with that universe. It is game in which we project a version of ourselves and getting lost in the fantasy of it all is great fun.

So that about wraps it up, Board Games, Card Games, RPG’s we’ll try to discuss them all.

All the Best,

Tabletop Temple
